DOI: 10.1590/S1679-45082015AI2979 NRS, a woman, 71-year-old, who born in São Paulo, Brazil, sought our care service complaining of progressive low visual and metamorphopsia in the right eyes (RE) for 3 months. She had no-history of comorbidities, ophthalmologic surgeries or eye diseases. Upon examination her best-corrected visual acuity was 20/80 in the RE and 20/20 in the left eye. Funduscopy showed vitreous condensation in fovea region of the RE. Optical coherence tomography (OCT) showed vitreomacular traction due to partial posterior vitreous detachment that disorganized the fovea structure and formed an aspect of “camel-hump” associated with the presence of high-reflectivity membrane, generating Figure 1. Camel-Hump Sign. Optical coherence tomography of the right eye showing centripetal traction area in macule region suggesting appearance of tractional retinal detachment

Spontaneous resolution of vitreomacular traction following ranibizumab (Lucentis) injection.
PURPOSE Spontaneous resolution of vitreomacular traction syndrome in diabetic patients is a rare phenomenon that has been poorly described in the literature. METHODS Case presentation. RESULTS The authors present a case of spontaneous resolution of vitreomacular traction following intravitreal administration of ranibizumab. CONCLUSIONS In patients with vitreomacular traction syndrome and ...

Ocriplasmin represents a new treatment option for numerous vitreoretinopathies involving an abnormal vitreomacular interface. While the drug may circumvent the traditional risks of surgical treatment, pharmacologic vitreolysis is not devoid of risk itself. This report presents two cases, one of vitreomacular traction syndrome and the other of a full-thickness macular hole, both of which were tr...

PURPOSE To describe new details of epiretinal cell proliferation in flat-mounted internal limiting membrane specimens. METHODS One hundred nineteen internal limiting membrane specimens were removed en bloc with epiretinal membranes from 79 eyes with macular pucker (MP) and 40 eyes with vitreomacular traction syndrome. Intraoperatively, posterior vitreous detachment was assessed as complete or...

AIMS To investigate the ultrastructure of the vitreoretinal interface in patients with vitreomacular traction syndrome. METHODS 14 patients with vitreomacular traction syndrome underwent standard pars plana vitrectomy. After induction of posterior vitreous detachment, epiretinal tissue and the inner limiting membrane (ILM) of the retina were removed, and processed for transmission electron mi...

PURPOSE The purpose of the present study is to compare the responses to ranibizumab between wet age-related macular degeneration patients, with and without accompanying vitreomacular traction syndrome. METHODS Our database of optical coherence tomography files was searched for eyes of age-related macular degeneration patients that had been treated with ranibizumab, and that had evidence of vi...
